South West District Police have succeeded in arresting two snatchers namely (1) Kulbhushan @ Pappu @ Aditya, aged 25 years, r/o Mahavir Vihar Delhi and (2) Bhagirath @ Ravi, age- 22 years r/o Mahavir Enclave, Palam Dabri Road, Delhi in case FIR No. 911 dated 25.9.07 u/s 379/356/34 IPC . On 25.9.2007 one Smt. Priyanka Singh r/o Sector-12, Dwarka had reported that while she along with her two children were going toward Mother Dairy Booth, Sector-3, Dwarka, two youngsters on a motorbike snatched her golden chain and fled away. The registration number of the bike was noted by the complainant and the same was informed to the police party, already present in the area. On the basis of available information, several police parties immediately started checking of suspected motorcycles at different places and ultimately succeeded in apprehending the duo while they were trying to escape from police checking. The motor cycle bearing registration no. DL-9S-U2967 make Bajaj Platina has been recovered from their possession. The motorcycle belongs to one Vijay Bahadur Shama, who is a relative of Bhagirath. PROFILE 1. Kulbhushan @ Pappu @ Aditya age-24 years. He is unmarried and 10th class pass and started the job of document collection for HDFC bank in Karol Bagh and was getting a low salary. He was previously arrested on 4.9.06 u/s 107/151 Cr.P.C. in P.S. Dabri 2. Bhagirath @ Ravi age –22 years is unmarried and 9th fail and started job of document collection for ICICI Bank in Karol Bagh and was getting a low salary. So both got together for earning some easy money by snatching. Further investigation is on progress.

With the arrest of Pradeep Kumar Sharma, aged 50 years s/o S.K. Sharma r/o J/28, Ist Floor, Jangpura, Delhi, and Dheeraj Kumar, aged 37 years s/o Surender Kumar r/o H. No. 75 B, Pocket 6, MIG flats, Mayur Vihar, Phase-III, Delhi, North District police have unearthed a racket indulged in selling of spurious Philips Auto Lamps and recovered 42000 duplicate ‘Philips’ Auto Lamps from their possession. TEAM AND THE INCIDENT A team consisting of Inspector Amardeep Sehgal, I/C Special Staff, North District, S.I. Rajesh Kumar, HC Braham Dev, HC Mahender, Ct Suresh, Ct Manoj, Ct Ashok and Ct. Sanjeev was constituted under the close supervision of Sh. S. S. Malik, ACP/Operations, North District. On 25.09.07, a specific information was received in the Operation Cell, North District that some persons were manufacturing, assembling and selling of spurious ‘Philips’ Auto Lamps in the area of North district and thereby violating the copyrights of the company and cheating the innocent public. The information was developed by the Operation Cell and thereafter a raid was conducted at Shop No. 2739/3, Minerva Cinema Lane, Kashmere Gate. During raid one person namely Pradeep Kumar Sharma was found selling duplicate Philips Auto Lamps items at the said shop. On the search of the premises, 4 cartons containing 30,400 duplicate ‘Philips’ Auto Lamps were recovered. A case of violation of Copyrights was registered at PS Kashmere Gate in this regard. INTERROGATION & INVESTIGATION Accused person Pradeep Kumar Sharma was interrogated at length and he disclosed that he was running a shop of photostate and motor parts for last so many years in this rented premises. In order to make quick and easy money, he started selling spurious ‘Philips’ Auto Lamps for last about 4 months. Accused person has violated the copyright of the Company and also incurred huge losses to the Company and State exchequer by not paying any taxes since long. He further disclosed that remaining auto lamps were kept in 2743/2004, Tiger Building, Kashmere Gate, Delhi one Dheeraj Kumar was his partner and he was also involved in this illegal practice. At his instance another 11,600 duplicate bulbs were recovered from the premises taken on rent by Dheeraj Kumar, the partner of Pradeep Kumar Sharma in this illegal trade of spurious Auto lamps of ‘Philips’ brand. The total value of seized goods is Rs. 5 lacs approx. Further investigation and interrogation is in progress. RECOVERY 1. 42000 Duplicate Philips Auto Lamps PROFILE 1. Pradeep Kumar Sharma s/o S.K. Sharma r/o J/28, Ist Floor, Jangpura, Delhi is 50 years old. He is married and a graduate. He was running a shop of photostate and motor parts for last so many years in rented premises. In order to make quick and easy money he started selling spurious ‘Philips’ Auto Lamps for last about 4 months. 2. Dheeraj Kumar s/o Sh. Surender Kumar r/o H. No. 75 B, Pocket 6, MIG flats, Mayur Vihar, Phase-III, Delhi is 37 years old. He is married and has studied upto 12th class. In order to make quick and easy money he started selling spurious ‘Philips’ Auto Lamps for last about 4 months.
